CoastFA Girls Successful in Charleston Shootout
Monday September 28, 2015
Seven Coast FA girls teams entered the Charleston Shootout over the weekend and four returned home with medals. Two championships and two finalist trophies were presented by the Charleston tournament staff to Coast.
Coach Pat Piscitelli’s Coast 99g Crush girls faced very stiff competition against Cesa, Usa Mt. Pleasant and SCUFC Columbia top teams and escaped with the championship by the the most narrow of margins. Three clean sheets were recorded and only two total goals were conceded by the Crush over four matches in the top division of U16 .
The Coast 05g Red girls dominated the top division of U10 girls posting four straight lopsided results on their way to claiming the title. The girls scored twenty two goals while only surrendering two all weekend.
In what was a bitter disappointment for Coach Mark Sanchez and his Coast 98g Flames, the girls finished as finalists in the top division of U17. After posting three straight wins and not allowing a single goal during round robin play the girls lost 1-2 to a strong CESA side in the finals.
Coach R.J. Bass entered his U8 Coast 07g Red girls in the U9 division at Charleston and the girls scrapped their way to finalist honors. The undersized ladies managed one win and one tie but lost twice to the eventual champions from Mount Pleasant.
